This is a nice little starter build for assassin, figured it while i started a new assa char when going about with nang the other day.
1. Jagged Strike 2. Jungle Strike 3. Blinding Powder 4. Death Blossom 5. Caltrops 6. Dash 7. Shadow Refuge 8. I have disrupting blow as this but if your not a a/w (which i am) it can be someting else.
Usage: Use dash to get to your foes that bit quicker, then start off with Jagged Strike, by now you should have aggroed a few and should be surrounding you, crippled them with caltrops, so 1. they can't run away so easily and 2. Jungle Strike does a bit extra damage, follow up with blinding powder (to blind foes would you of guessed) then finally Death Blosson. Use shadow of refuge to heal as required. Use disrupting blow to stop healing or other such annoying skills used by foe (if you are not a/w ignore the last sentence). Repeat all as nessicary.
Recommended Weapons: As its a starter build, the best that you can get at the time.
Note: all of these skills can be bought at the shing jea skills guy so u dont have to go far to get them.

I might be a total noob... But I like this build:
Dash Unsuspecting strike Wild Strike/Fox Fangs Critical Strike Death's Charge Shadow refuge Critical Eye Way of Perfection/Critical Defenses/Res
High critical hits attributes I suggest.

warlock you may want to know that although that build you posted is fine, you actually get higher chances of criticals the higher your weapon mastery is I'll try and find the article on critical hits etc. and post it here... also I'll post some of the assassin builds I've been using lately in PvE EDIT: Here's the article on critical hits based on weapon mastery and here's the one based on the assassin based critical strikes attribute just helping out you can completely ignore this if you want

A good tip is, keep your skill chains small as possible, that way there is less chance of your spike being interrupted half way through thus screwing up your attack. The other good tip for an Assassin is to repeat this mantra over and over, "I am not a TANK!" I mainly use only one build for my assassin as it seems to work ok in PvE but not in PvP. Skills, 1. Palm Stirke (E) 2. Critical Strike/Blinding Strike 3. Death/Blossom or Twisting Fangs 4. Way of Perfection 5. Critical Eye 6. Critical Defence 7. Shadow Refuge 8. Death's Charge or Recall or Res Signet The combination of a high critical strikes attribute and the Critical Eye skill your energy is replenished quite quickly, as well as boost your critical strike percentage up to around 1 in 4. With the Way of Perfection skill you'll get +28 health, along with 4 energy, with each Critical Strike but unfortunately Way of Perfection isn't enough on it's own so by using Shadow's Refuge as well, can keep your Assassin going for that bit longer. The best part of this is build is Critical Defences, 75% chance to block an attack and Critical Defences is refreshed every time you land a critical hit. A very handy skill when going up against Rangers or Warriors.

my assassin running build. A/W. Skills: 1. Shadow Form 2. Optional 3. Dark Escape 4. Dash 5. Sprint 6. Death's Charge 7. Shadow Refuge 8. Healing Sig Shadow Arts: 12+1+3 Tactics: 12 Superior Vigor would be helpful but not necessary because you'll probably die anyways after shadow form ends if you're caught out. There shouldn't be any energy management problems either. Weapons: something with +20 Enchantment Duration is good. Don't need to use daggers. Could use a Totem axe, and tactics shield for extra defence. Ok. so basically with this build I've found that it is possible to run from Lion's Arch all the way to Temple of Ages, stopping at bergen along the way. The setup is quite simple really. if you're running up against fire imps, or other spell casters put up shadow form and run past them using Dash, followed by either sprint of Dark Escape depending on the distance you are gonna be running. Be wary of when Shadow form is finishing as it will leave you with practically no health. Before it finishes find a gap with no enemies and use Dash to get there and break agro of any enemies following. stop heal with healing sig and shadow refuge, when shadow form is back up start up again. If foes are blocking your way. e.g. near the last part to get to bergen, select the furthest away enemy and use deaths charge. you should then be able to simply run past them quite quickly. It isn't a difficult run with this build. you just need to learn the route and what enemies you're gonna encounter along the way, remember as a worst case scenario you can activate dark escape if shadow form is still recharging as it halves all damage, and it has a fairly good length to it(16 secs with shadow arts: 16). with shadow form you'll get 25 secs with the enchantment mod. That should be more than enough time to run past almost all hard bits. If you're running past melee characters just activate dark escape and carry on. The run should take around 10-15 minutes stopping at bergen along the way. for the optional I would recommend Feigned Neutrality if you have Nightfall, if not, I have used shrould of distress for the ability to block attacks when shadow form ends. let me know what you think

It's a build I've been working on for a while now and I think I've nailed it,
Deadly Arts - 3 Dagger Mastery - 9 Shadow Arts - 10 Critical Strikes - 15
1. Any Hex, preferably Siphon Speed or Expose Defenses 2. Either Black Spider Strike or Black Lotus Strike 3. Critical Strikes 4. Moebius Strike 5. Shadow Refuge 6. Way of Perfection 7. Critical Defenses 8. Deaths Charge or Critical Eye
It's a pretty simple build to use and can be used with any set of Daggers though a Vampiric or Sundering Daggers would be ideal. Hex your target and activate Way of Perfection but wait till your up close before activating Critical Defenses, as it only last for 10 seconds but refreshes itself everytime you get a critical hit. Use Critical Strikes to refresh Critical Defenses, Moebius Strike to recharge Critical Strikes, and Way of Perfection will give you 30 health with each critical hit you land. Add Critical Eye to the mix you'll gain an additional 15% chance of landing a critical hit on top of the 15% you'll get from Critical Strikes attribute. Good in PvE and ok for PvP. Tried it out in AB and was ok in a 1 on 1 situation, especially if you get them bellow 50% health but you still can't tank, counters include blinding & strip enchantment spells.
